The 18.2GB Ultra160 SCSI Hard Drive extends the performance range of IBM's lineup of leading edge hard disk drives with a new breakthrough SCSI offering. This new 15 000rpm HDD with the ability to handle data far faster than other drives provides an easy way to extend the performance range of entry servers handling demanding transaction processing tasks and of workstations dealing with enormous real time video data files.??This new HDD achieves its unmatched performance level by much faster disk rotation and quicker recording head motion over a narrower data band. These design choices require no more power or cooling than in the current generation of 10 000rpm drives allowing the new drive to work well in a broad range of existing entry servers and workstations.??This Hard Drive has Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) which warns of predictable forms of impending hard disk drive failure. S.M.A.R.T. is compatible with IBM S.M.A.R.T. Reaction software.
